About the Artist
- Claudia (Hall) O'Driscoll
- Colton, Oregon, United States
- I have been an artist since birth. My father, Claude Temple Hall, was a highly respected artist in the San Francisco Bay Area for many years. My mother carved kachinas. It was as natural as walking, for me to pursue artistic expression. During the nineteen sixties and seventies, my hand built pottery creations were extremely popular, from Solvang, Carmel, and Mendocino in California, to Taos, New Mexico, New York, and here, in Oregon. In 1975, I moved to Goat Mountain, in Colton, Oregon. It was during this period that I began pit firing my works, and studied Acoma pottery methods with the Lewis Family. My hand painted rattles and pots were well received, and were featured at such fine galleries as Real Mother Goose and Greystone in Portland, as well as White Bird at Cannon Beach, and Wood Gallery in Newport. More recently, I retired from my wage slave position, and I devote much of my time to varying art forms and political and social activism. The results may be seen here. My formal education includes a BA from San Jose State, as well as numerous seminars and classes from other artists, such as Tom Coleman and Frank Boyden.
